Water Damage, Mould Cleaning & Drying Techniques
Water Damage, Drying techniques explained…
Our Technicians have been very busy lately dealing with a whole manner of water damaged properties. They have been dealing with flats, houses, hotels, banks and various other property types.
We receive requests to attend properties following water damage from burst pipes (yes even out with winter), washing machine leaks, dishwasher leaks, flash flooding, and even from water used by the fire service to put out a fire in properties. The list is endless.
The most important thing to remember following water damage to a property is to act quickly to minimise the damage. If a water damaged property is not stabilised quickly by a trained technician, then further damage can happen to buildings and contents. This is known as secondary damage. Equally damaging but often preventable.
Mould can easily develop on contents and buildings not directly affected by the water. However, again if dealt with quickly, there is more chance of successful restoration to any such items damaged.
Where a property is not drying out fully, perhaps one area not drying as well as others then they will initiate target drying. As you will see in the picture, why this can be effective, especially in a large room or open plan property.
Target drying can be effective in an area already stripped back to aid drying or to prevent areas from being stripped out. This often leads to great savings for insurers and also saves a load of inconvenience to customers having to endure building work which can, on occasions, be avoided.
Our technicians are highly trained in dealing with all types of building construction and how best certain areas can be dried. However, they don’t stand still when it comes to learning more as drying regimes change and improve.
