Fire, Flood And Accidental Damage…All In A Days Work
What a busy week we have had serving customers in various areas throughout the Highlands.
We had one of our teams on the beautiful island of Raasay this week after we were asked to help with the restoration of a church which had suffered extensive damage following a Fire
We dispatched two vans so that should another job come in nearby we could attend without hampering the task in hand.
The vans travelled to the beautiful Island of Skye to catch the ferry to Raasay. The weather was as expected for April, cold but sunny spells.

The ferry from Skye to Raasay only takes about 25 minutes so you can either sit in your vehicle or in the small waiting room on the ferry. There is no cafe or TV areas like the bigger ferries but the scenery is stunning so you won’t miss that.
Raasay is a small island in the inner hebrideas with a population of under 200 people, its beautiful.
Nonetheless our staff arrived ready for the job in hand with their vans fully equipped with the required materials for the job which included removal of the fire debris to cleaning and restoring the valuable artifacts in the church.

We were lucky enough to secure accommodation on the island for the staff thanks to “insider info”… aka local information which is crucial at this time of year as there are always B&B’s who don’t advertise on Google and rely on word of mouth for bookings. There is also a brewery being built on the island and the construction staff are desperately trying to find accommodation to save them having to travel back and forth on the ferry to Skye every evening after a hard days work.
When staff started work on the church the weather was ok, they came outside to find a heavy snowfall had occurred. Four seasons in one day right enough,

The staff were on the island all week and I am sure will be happy to be back with their family and friends again tomorrow in time for the long weekend.
